Perils of an aging sneakerhead

We all know two things in life are promised, death and taxes, but what catches off guard are the things that happen between. Things like getting older. Turn the clock back three short years ago and I was a man on a mission. A mission to build the largest sneaker collection anyone has laid eyes one and I was bringing my son along for the ride. I said son not sons because at the time there was only one and if daddy got em Jr did too. Fast forward to present imps and now I'm the proud father of 3 boys and still very much a sneakerfiend. Only difference is I have to buy for 4 which means in most cases he kids get the kicks and I don't a bitter pill to swallow but a part of growing up.

Release date info for the AJ 3 Doernbecher has been updated. The shoes drop on Dec. 11 @ a price of $160

Jordan II candy pack

In true Jordan Brand fashion the powers that be have messed things up again. The AJ2 candy pack which was slated to release on 10/30/10 at a price of $130 per pair has been changed. The new date November 6th the new price $135. Why beats me, but as always they know something we don't know. Maybe it's for the best extra time to get your money together.

UA release reminder

The Under Armour Micro G "Fly" is set to release October 23,2010. This bred colorway is a Finishline exclusive and will retail for $89.99. As a Jordan fan I'm partial to the black/red colorway and the translucent sole is always a plus. So if your looking for a lightweight and reasonably priced shoe to hoop in this may be the shoe for you.

Air Jordan III

I've already shown you pictures of the upcoming Doernbecher Jordan III but JB isn't stopping there. You can look for the white/ cement gray/ fire red OG colorway to make it's return in spring of 2011. Like many Jordan releases some shoes get leaked and sold early if I get any info I'll let you know.

As one of the realist players out Brandon Jennings has taken the NBA by storm. Now he plans to take the sneaker world by surprise as well. Introducing the Under Armour Micro G "Black Ice". I don't know much about the tech specs of these but will post more on these as info becomes available.

Well this isn't exactly silver and gold. The shoes pictured below are the "pewter" foams which will release in 2011 and the recently released "copper" foams. If you're a fan like I am this year and next will be great and expensive. No solid release date at this time.

Just Don't Do It

It seems like more and more people are hurting the sneaker game. The people I'm referring to are basically two groups the one that rock fakes and the ones that sell them. This is becoming a big business and sneaker companies are taking action. Check out the article below.

This is no joke people if you don't care if your sneakers are legit fine, to each his own. But keep in mind that not only is it a tad bit tasteless it is now illegal because by buying the fake you keep these crooks in business. Think about it.

We saw Jordan brand butcher these in the form of the "fusion" but they might be in the process of making amends. I originally thought these would release in 2011 but it seems we may be able to snag them a little early. Stay tuned for more info.

First Look

AIR JORDAN 3 "DOERNBECHER" FIRST LOOK

In mid-September, a silhouette of the major Doernbecher/Air Jordan project surfaced on the web to many sneaker enthusiast's excitement. As predicted, the model of choice is the Air Jordan 3. We now have our first look at this highly-anticipated sneaker. Varsity Red covers the majority of the upper, appearing in different textures throughout. In detail, monochromatic, Varsity Red/Black cement print appears on the toe area and heel panel, while a unique, patterned leather print graces the side panels/toe box. Additional black hints appear in the form of the collar midsole, laces and tongue. Also, minimal Metallic Silver attributes add nice color compliments, while the entire makeup is complimented with an icy sole. Stay tuned as more information regarding this shoe's release and construction will surface soon.

Kobe or LeBron?

As you may or may not have heard last week Kobe Bryant was asked if he thought he'd win a 1 on 1 game against LeBron James. His answer was yes he went on to say that LeBron is a phenomenal team player but 1on 1 is his thing and he could take him in his sleep. OH SNAP! No doubt Kobe is great but come on son, LeBron, in your sleep? I don't know about that one and I'll plead the 5th but I'd like to know who you would pick and why.

A while back I went out on limb and said I was done with the sneaker game. Sub standard quality, high prices, and weak releases were mainly the cause of my blow up. So stop is exactly what I did. I mean not cold turkey but I wasn't constantly searching for a new pair of sneakers, as I had done so many nights in the past. This worked out fine for a while more money in my pocket and a little more sleep. What I didn't realize is how addicted I actually was and as anyone with an addiction can tell you "you never stop being an addict you simply switch addictions". Believe me I tried but this thing left a void I just couldn't fill, it was as if I was looking for some other place to belong. I tried the tech world it's cool just not me, I spent more time checking out politics, and I even tried being a cowboy (sort of) but it just wasn't the right fit. Now I realize that this is me, this is who I am. "Hello..... my name is Cameron and I'm addicted to sneakers". I waisted months looking for a place to belong when I was already home. Now that I'm back I got a lot of catching up to do, this should be fun!!

The Heat is On!

I'm sure by now every sports fan in the world has formed an opinion about LeBron James and his decision to leave Cleveland. Some love, some hate many of the haters would say what happened to loyalty. While the people on the other side of the coin, myself included, say what about winning. Look from day one this young superstar put not only his state but the entire NBA on his shoulders and carried them to new heights. He brought attention back to the sport when people were beginning to turn away from the sport. Remember basketball was quickly moving down the popularity list in terms of sports in America. This kid not only brought back fans of the game but gave sneakerheads another great line of kicks to lust after. He did this on a team which for whatever reason could never quite get over the hump. Now he could have been loyal and stayed and continued to lose but why. Only to end up like another one of my favorite players Charles Barkley. A great player, hall of fame bound, but no championship. Isn't that the reason players play to win and to someday Win it all? It seems to me like everyone is cool with making money from LeBron James. But when he decides to capitalize on his best chance at an NBA championship fans boo him, cavs owner slings mud, and even basketball legends talked down on him. Bottom line LeBron James doesn't owe any of us anything! The season is upon us and soon we'll all see if the decision was worth it.

It's like candy

For us Texans candy paint is nothing new but now the world is started to take notice. The Air Jordan "candy pack" releases on 10-30-10 and although it's called a pack will be sold individually at a price of $130 each. The release is said to commemorate Jordan and him "bringing color to the game". Solid shoes at a decent price I prefer the red just might cop em. With tango iPhone 3G, 3GS, & 4 users can make video calls "face time" to anyone on there contact list that is also using tango. It works over any connection wi-fi or 3G and though I am yet to use it tango sounds great.

All I want for Christmas. The return of the Nike Air Jordan XI cool grey. One of, if not, the most anticipated releases from Jordan Brand these release on 12-23-10 at a retail price of $175. Kicks should be a general release but believe me they won't last long. With that said start stacking that paper NOW!!!!!

Best iPhone 4 cases

Ok so I've had the new and improved iPhone since it launched and it's everything I thought it would be. So of course I wanted to protect my new toy and that's where the fun began. As many people know I love the otterbox cases especially the defender,but come iPhone day this case wasn't available. Needless to say I was upset but I found a few good cases to hold me over until the Otterbox was on the market. Here is my list ,in no particular order, of the top iPhone 4 cases. The Switcheasy Colors which impressed me so much I bought two. It's a silicone case with port covers for max coverage and a raised home button, very nice and at $15 a great case. Then I found the Griffin Reveal I purchased mine at Wal-Mart which sells them for $19.99, $10 cheaper than Best Buy. The Reveal is a case for the those looking for protection while keeping the phone in it's purest form. It features an "Apple Bumper" like edge than covers your button while leaving access to the dock but it's main feature is a clear plastic back. The back piece not only shows of the beauty of the phones glass back but keeps it protected from scratches. The fourth case I got was the Griffin Reveal Etch same as the original reveal case but with an "carbon fiber like" rigid plastic back piece. Well these were all great but I needed more protection. I have three young children and a wife that take advantage of every opportunity to grab up my phone and since they aren't always as careful as I am I need the best protection I can get. That's when I hit eBay found the defender ,finally, and saved myself some money in the process. The msrp is $50 but I only paid $36 through eBay. So if you have an iPhone 4 or plan to get one I suggest getting the Otterbox Defender but if it's not for you then one of the cases I mentioned will definitely give you what your looking for. Apple music conference

The apple music conference just ended and Mr Jobs and co have an awful lot in store for us. New iPods and updated apple tv were the main pillars of the event. Plus two ios updates and an iTunes 10 which is available now. Check the official apple website for details and download info. Sadly no word on a verizon iPhone or a white iPhone 4.

It's 2010 let's get it together!!!!

15 years ago you asked what the future would be like many would say flying cars and hovercrafts but now in the year 2010 we can't even get a decent cellphone case. I mean where is the originality everything is a copy of a copy branded with a different logo or brand name. It sickens me to tell you the truth. Oh, and the flip side the kicks aren't much better 15 years after the foamposite made it's original debut it is still the most advanced shoe on this planet, WTF, is that about. The best selling shies are not the ones that release a model every year like the air max line. No the best sellers are RETROS shoes from when me and you, yo mama and yo cousin too were all in middle school. Thus sad fact is unbelievable and has lead to the premature end of this blog and possible of my sneaker collecting days. I just can't see why we are so far behind the only real advancement we've made is the touchscreen smart phone, is that enough are we done now. Should we just pack it in and continue to settle for this. As a sneakerfiend I am always on the hunt for that next pair looking for that rare pair to set me apart from the pack but no more I'm done. Until shoe companies step their game up I'll keep my Ben Franks till they grow gray hair. Same goes for you iPhone case makers come up with something new please. People are walking around with the hottest phone out right now and all they have to choose from are some glittery hello kitty snap on back cases. Unacceptable. I'm done.
